Leionema
Shrubs, glabrous or with simple, branched or stellate hairs. Leaves alternate, simple, sesile or shortly petiolate, margins entire or toothed. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, cymose or corymbose, rarely flowers solitary. Flowers bisexual, 5-merous; sepals shortly fused at base; petals valvate, free or rarely united (not in Victoria), deciduous; stamens 10, free, filaments glabrous, anthers deeply retuse; carpels usually 5, 1-locular, basally fused and usually subtended by a short gynophore, shortly beaked, styles slender, stigma minutely lobed; ovules 2 per carpel. Fruit follicular, apices rounded or beaked; seeds 1 (rarely 2) per follicle, released explosively with elastic endocarp.
A genus of 24 species of eastern Australia and one in New Zealand.
