Pomax
Subshrubs, perennial, often slightly woody at base. Leaves opposite; stipules scarcely connate to leaf-bases, leaf-like. Inflorescence a terminal umbellate thyrse consisting of several-many, 2–4-flowered pedunculate heads. Flowers bisexual; calyx c. 3-lobed, persistent in fruit; calyx-tube connate; corolla 3–5-lobed, deciduous, pink to mauve; corolla-tube at least twice as long as lobes; stamens 1–5, usually 5, inserted at base of corolla-tube, anthers exserted, with a terminal appendage; ovaries inferior, fused, 1-celled, ovules 1 per cell, style deeply bifid, stigmas filiform. Fruits of 2-valved capsules united in a head, the whole dehiscing by the abscission of a more or less circular apical lid.
A single species endemic to Australia.
