2 subspecies; 1 subspecies known from Victoria. Ranunculus pentandrus var. pentandrus has been collected near Wentworth just over the border into New South Wales near Mildura. It is distinguished from Ranunculus pentandrus var. platycarpus by its achenes being covered by small conical tubercules, with each tubercle bearing a recurved hair.
