Psoralea pinnata
L. Blue PsoraleaErect shrub 1.5–5 m tall; stems pubescent or glabrous. Leaves crowded, c. 25 mm long; leaflets 7–9, linear to linear-lanceolate, 25–45 mm long, 0.8–2 mm wide, channelled above, surfaces villous, gland-dotted, apices acute to acuminate, margins entire; petiole 4–7 mm long; stipules lanceolate, shorter than petiole, fused for most of their length. Flowers 1–6 in axils towards ends of stems; pedicels 2–5 mm long; cupulum to c. 5 mm long, 3-toothed, one longer than the 2 others; calyx campanulate, 8–9 mm long, glabrescent, with scattered white and black hairs, gland-dotted, teeth equal, shorter than calyx tube; corolla 15–18 mm long, pale mauve to blue; standard obovate, white to pale mauve, darker at base; wings slightly shorter than standard, white to pale; keel c. 12 mm long, white to male mauve. Pod 4–5 mm long, included in calyx, rough-textured, black; seed 2–4 mm long, dark brown. Flowers Nov.–Jan.
GleP, VVP, GipP, OtP, WaP, EGL, HSF, OtR, Strz. Also naturalised WA, SA, NSW, Tas, New Zealand. Native to South Africa. An ornamental garden shrub that has become naturalised in a number of sites in southern Victoria.
