Bossiaea vombata subsp. orientalis
K.L.McDougall & N.G.WalshErect rhizomatous shrub to 0.5(–1.5) m high; cladodes green or greyish-green, often with a white waxy surface that exfoliates when the branches dry. Cladode scales 1–2 mm long. Flowers solitary; bracts 3–3.5 mm long; calyx lobes 1–1.5 mm long (or dorsal pair up to 2 mm long); standard 8–9 mm long including claw 1.5–2 mm long; keel 6–7.5 mm long (including claw). Flowers Sep.-Dec.
Endemic in Victoria, known from the Cobberas between Benambra and Wulgulmerang where found in in Eucalyptus pauciflora, E. mannifera and E. rubida woodland, and also from lower altitudes in the Bendoc and lower Snowy River areas.
Populations at lower altitudes in the Bendoc area and lower Snowy River have not been observed since the 1950s and their placement in this taxon is perhaps somewhat tentative. Specimens from these areas are mostly infertile and were previously included in B. vombata s.s. However, the one specimen with a fragment of an inflorescence appears to match subsp. orientalis rather then subsp. vombata. As such they are now treated in this taxon.
