Erect, wholly greyish-cottony annuals or biennials, 15–55 cm high. Leaves linear, lanceolate or oblanceolate, 1–6.5 cm long, 0.2–0.8 cm wide, margins sometimes undulate and somewhat revolute, often subamplexicaul. Capitula c. 3–4 mm long, c. 5–20 in clusters; involucral bracts 2–3.5 mm long, the outermost shiny, yellow-brown; female florets 50–100, barely exceeding the involucre; bisexual florets 5–10, corollas yellow. Cypselas ellipsoid-cylindric, c. 0.5 mm long; pappus bristles 8–12, c. 3 mm long. Flowers most of year.
