Calotis scabiosifolia
Sond. & F.Muell. Rough Burr-daisyTufted, rhizomatous or stoloniferous, variably hispid to strigose perennial to c. 40 cm high. Basal leaves petiolate, narrow oblanceolate to obovate, entire to toothed or lobed, 3–20 cm long; scape leaves sessile, elliptic to oblong, 8–30 mm long, 3–9 mm wide, almost invariably toothed or lobed. Scapes unbranched, or rarely 1- or 2-branched; capitula 15–35 mm diam.; involucral bracts lanceolate to obovate, 3.5–8 mm long; ray florets mauve or white, c. 15–60, 7–13 mm long; disc florets sterile. Cypsela body 2.5–4 mm long, pale to dark reddish-brown, woolly at apex; major awns 5 or 6, stout, diverging to horizontally spreading, 1.5–4 mm long, hairy near base, barbed near apex; secondary awns usually present, to 1.3 mm long, hairy.
