Eucalyptus ×paradoxa Maiden & Blakely

Crit. Revis. Eucalyptus 8: 30 (1929) APNI

Taxonomic status:Accepted

Occurrence status:Present

Establishment means:Native

Threat status:Victoria: rare (r)

Remarks:

A presumed hybrid between E. globulus subsp. pseudoglobulus and E. tereticornis found near Metung in East Gippsland. Plants typically have juvenile leaves that resemble E. globulus, while fruits are closer in shape to E. tereticornis, and buds are somewhat intermediate between the two parent taxa (borne in 3’s or 7’s, on flattened peduncles with a conical, rugulose operculum). Apparently not recorded since the initial collections by Howitt and King.
