Soliva
Annual herbs. Leaves 1–3-pinnatisect, alternate, with sheathing bases. Capitula disciform, heterogamous, sessile, solitary in a leaf-axil but often several clustered at the base of a plant; involucral bracts 1–2-seriate, with narrow membranous margins; receptacle convex or conical, ebracteate. Outer florets female, in several rows, lacking a corolla, style persistent and spinescent in fruit; inner florets male or possibly bisexual, corolla-tube 3–4-lobed. Cypselas dorsiventrally flattened, lateral wings absent or present, then smooth or with horizontal ridges sometimes projecting to form apical teeth; pappus absent.
Perhaps 8 species, native to South America; 4 naturalised in Australia.
