Flowering stem stout, 20–40 cm tall. Leaf-blade to 15 cm long, 3–5 mm diam. at base, green, apex suberect, often withered at flowering. Flowers 20–40 in a narrow, cylindrical, very congested spike, 5–10 cm long, yellow-green and red-brown, widely expanded, fragrant; ovary obovoid, c. 5 mm long, inclined at c. 30 deg. to the rachis; sepals 6–8 mm long, dorsal sepal ovate-lanceolate, nearly vertical, acuminate, lateral sepals free from base, linear-lanceolate, erect or recurved, with involute margins, apex bidentate; petals 5–7 mm long, linear to linear-lanceolate, upswept and spreading widely, acute. Labellum 5–7 mm long, ovate, white, basal half almost orbicular, obliquely erect, flat, distal half recurved slightly, margins entire; callus fleshy distally, green, broad at base, narrowed distally and extending nearly to the labellum apex. Column appendages oblong, c. 1.5 mm long, truncate. Flowers Oct.–Nov.
