Annual or biennial herbs, rarely short-lived perennials, glabrous or with simple hairs. Leaves petiolate, cordate to rhombic or deltoid; margins crenate, dentate or sinuate. Inflorescence a raceme. Sepals erect, dimorphic; petals white, clawed; stamens 6. Fruit elongate (more than 3 times as long as broad), linear or oblong, terete or quadrangular, dehiscent; valves with a distinct midvein; style capitate; seeds in 1 row per locule.
