2 subspecies, only the nominate subspecies in Victoria. See Microsorum pustulatum subsp. pustulatum profile for description.

A second subspecies, M. pustulatum subsp. howense (Tindale & P.S.Green) Bostock is endemic to Lord Howe Island.
