Muelleria 38: 23 (2019)
Spikelets 4–7.5 mm long; lemma c. 5 mm long, glabrous except for callus tuft, elsewhere minutely scabrous; awn 6–10 mm long. Flowers Oct.–Jan.
DunT, GipP, GGr, VVP, WaP. Virtually co-extensive with the nominate variety, but known further east near the Gippsland Lakes east of Sale.
The largely overlapping distributions and slight difference between this and Lachnagrostis semibarbata var. semibarbata suggests that the two are only very slightly genetically divergent and probably interbreed.
